Location: Scarborough – Scarborough General Hospital
Contract: Permanent (full time)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, various shift patterns.
Salary: £25,272 per annum (pro rata).
Main duties of the job:
- Maintain cleanliness in the assigned ward/area following the work schedule.
- Lift items and operate cleaning machinery, including industrial and standard equipment.
- Undertake specialist cleaning as directed by the Facilities Supervisor, Nurse in Charge or Infection Prevention Department.
- Assist with distribution of meals to wards.
- Plate up meals, ensuring dietary requirements of patients are met.
- Make and distribute hot drinks and clean and refill water jugs.
Experience & Knowledge Required:
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in the cleaning industry.
- Previous experience working in the NHS.
- Able to use small and large equipment such as regeneration ovens, dishwashers and floor machinery.
Skills and Attributes:
- Capable of working alone and with others as part of a team, using initiative.
Education, Qualifications and Training:
- Good basic education, including reading, writing and basic numeracy.
- Willingness to complete infection prevention and control training; Food Hygiene Level 2.
- Customer service training (or to be completed within six months of start).
- BICSc Qualification / NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning/Catering or equivalent.
- Training in industrial cleaning equipment.
