York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management LLP (YTHFM LLP) is looking for Porters to join our team within York Hospital. The working pattern for this role will be a mixture of 06:00‑14:00, 14:00‑22:00 and 22:00‑06:00, 5 out of 7 days inclusive of bank holidays and weekends. Previous portering experience is an advantage; however full training will be provided. A willingness to learn and develop your skills is essential.
The role involves delivering an efficient & effective Portering Service to our colleagues within York Hospital, including:
- Patient transfers
- Delivery of linen
- Collection of domestic & clinical wastes
- Mortuary transfers
- Attending entonox banks
- Responding to fire alarms
- Specimen collections
- Blood delivery
- Medical gases
- Transportation of wheelchairs and modular equipment/furniture from around the hospital site
- Deploying and assisting emergency services and agencies where appropriate—including major incidents
The post holder will be guided by local and Trust policy and procedures. Work is managed rather than supervised, allowing a level of autonomy to deliver the Portering service effectively.
Enhanced Pay for unsocial hours worked – unsocial hours are any hours worked on weekends or between 8pm and 6am.
