The role requires a strong team player who is friendly and motivated to work in all areas of the department, including the Main Kitchen and Dining Room. Applicants must be adaptable, flexible and able to work variable hours. They should use initiative, be self‑motivated and possess strong interpersonal, organisational and time‑management skills. The role involves working under pressure, prioritising workload, and carrying out physically demanding tasks.

Main responsibilities:

  • Prepare food trolley stations for ward areas.
  • Serve food in the Dining Room.
  • Deliver food to functions and events within the Trust as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen areas.
  • Monitor food temperatures as part of HACCP procedures.
  • Washing up and general cleaning duties.
  • Pick and pack food ready for service.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Catering experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Be a good team player.

Full training will be provided.

Person Specification:

Education, Qualifications and Training:

  • Good basic education (reading, writing, basic numeric skills).
  • Understanding or willingness to complete relevant qualifications and training, including Food Hygiene Level 2.
  • NVQ Level 2 in cleaning/catering or equivalent (BICSc Qualification).

Experience & Knowledge Required:

  • Proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Previous NHS experience.
  • Ability to operate small and large kitchen equipment such as ovens, dishwashers and floor machinery.
