Hours - Flexible working - 0 hours per week (As and When) Work pattern - Mon-Fri, Sat-Sun Shift times - Various shift patterns, start times and lengths may be offered, depending on the work that needs covering. On Mon-Fri the department opening work times are between 05:30 - 17:30. On Sat-Sun, one regular shift operates between 05:30-09:30.

York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) are looking for an approachable and flexible Transport Driver to join our team in York. Experience is not necessary as full training will be given, but a willingness to learn and develop your skills is essential.

Main duties of the job

The Transport Department provides a professional and reliable Transport service on behalf YTHFM for York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, servicing various NHS organisations including other hospitals and GP surgeries within York and the surrounding areas.

You will primarily be responsible for handling and transporting a range of items, including, but not limited to:

  • medical equipment
  • controlled drugs (signed collection and delivery)
  • food items
  • medical gases
  • furniture

You will be responsible for the safe delivery and security of all items whilst in transit.

We do not provide any patient transport.

Person Specification

Education, Qualifications and Training

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent. English and Maths at grade C or above (alphabetical system), or 4-9 (numerical system) - or equivalent qualification/demonstrable experience
  • Current driving licence (automatic and manual), including the BE category

Experience and Knowledge Required

  • Insight into role responsibilities of post
  • Able to personally demonstrate the Trust values
  • Previous experience of commercial driving
