The successful candidate will support the Employability and Employer Engagement Manager to establish, develop and support the Masters employability strategy (Careers & Enterprise Pathways) for London campus. They will build and maintain a network of external organisations to provide work opportunities, placements, internships, work‐related experiential learning (WREL) and business‐hosted projects for Masters level students. The post holder will support the development and delivery of the AI Literacy programme and YSJ Career Ready Journey for all students, and lead the planning and delivery of events, including job fairs and employer events to promote employability opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of the Masters employability strategy.
  • Build and maintain a network of external organisations for work opportunities, placements, internships, WREL and business‐hosted projects.
  • Support the development and delivery of the AI Literacy programme and YSJ Career Ready Journey.
  • Plan and deliver events, including job fairs and employer events, to promote employability opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience of and/or current knowledge of the graduate labour market and recruitment practices.
  • Experience of securing external support for university initiatives, such as in the form of placement year, work opportunities, internships, WREL and business‐hosted projects.
  • Experience of developing contact database platforms for the management of external placements/institutional relationships.
  • Experience of planning and delivering events, such as career fairs and employer events.
  • Experience of delivering workshops and career guidance support to students 1‐to‐1 and in large group formats.

The London Campus, established in 2019, offers a diverse range of postgraduate taught programmes and top‐up degrees, primarily in the fields of business and technology. With a student body of approximately 3,400 and projected growth in the coming years, the campus is poised for expansion. Located across two floors in East London Docks, the campus is part of a vibrant, co‐inhabited educational environment. It is supported by a dedicated team of over 70 faculty and staff members across all key departments, providing comprehensive support to our students. This includes the London Student Opportunities Team, consisting of five specialized professionals who focus on enhancing student outcomes across careers, placements and other student opportunities.

The Team:

Based at our London campus, the role‐holder will work within the Careers and Student Opportunities team to establish and manage employers, placement partnerships and other forms of collaboration with external partners, seizing opportunities that will enhance the employability prospects of York St John University students in London. Working in collaboration with colleagues in York across careers, placements and other student opportunities, the post‐holder will work to raise the profile of the University, secure employers and credible work opportunities, and develop placement partnership opportunities, identify local and regional skills needs and act as a broker between businesses and other organisations and the University.
