The predicted salary is between 10.8 - 13.2 £ per hour.

We are currently looking to recruit Bar & Event student staff to join the YSJSU team! The role is based at York Campus. We employ a large team of student staff from all years and a wide variety of courses, creating a great social network within our team where many staff form lifelong friendships.

We welcome applications from everyone, so don’t worry if you have never worked in this area before. We have a training programme for all of our staff, which helps you develop a wide variety of skills to take with you once you have finished University.

Requirements:

  • You are a current York St John University student
  • Can work days and evenings
  • Can work key dates such as Saturdays, Freshers Week, Archies Days, Snowball, Spring Fling etc.
  • Can act as a host for events held by YSJSU

Main duties whilst working on the Students' Union Bar:

  • Working within the Students’ Union bar, delivering great customer service, and contributing positively to the student experience at YSJ
  • Confidently act as host for engaging events, such as the YSJSU Big Pub Quiz and PAP karaoke, ensuring an inclusive, lively atmosphere.
  • Engaging with customers, demonstrating excellent product knowledge and promoting offers whilst working in a busy, social environment
  • Taking drink orders and using the till system
  • Adapting to the pace of trade and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in all areas of the Students’ Union
  • Ensuring that the bar is ready for service, and that it is closed to a clean and correct standard
  • Food running throughout the venue and supporting the student team as a whole
  • Completing relevant online courses - these are qualifications that are great to add to your CV
