Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £27,414 to £28,233 per annum. Plus generous benefits including: 45 days annual leave per year (including bank holidays and efficiency closures) and a generous Occupational Pension Scheme.
About the role
This varied role is the key point of contact between the College and the student and their parents/carers and employers where appropriate. You will focus on supporting and coaching students to meet or exceed stretching targets, to develop as independent learners and to prepare for their next steps in education or industry. You will undertake several functions within the role, including:
- Delivery of individual and group Professional and Development sessions (tutorials)
- Creation of resources
- Tracking and supporting academic and personal progress
- Enterprise, progression and employability activities
- Supporting applications to higher education and/or employment
- Work experience planning
- Reviewing and steering careers research
- Liaising with curriculum area team members and parents/carers
This role will predominantly be based within the Creative Directorate, particularly the Hair & Beauty curriculum area, however there will be a requirement for candidates to work across other areas where needed.

- An understanding of 16-18 and/or adult students and their needs
- Experience of effective liaison and co-ordination of activities (whether in the education setting or elsewhere)
- High level interpersonal skills
- Good time management
- The ability to motivate students
- An ability to use and analyse data
- UCAS & Degree/Apprenticeship experience preferable
About the College
We are a large, regional college serving a population across York and North Yorkshire of more than one million people. Each year, we have approximately 4,000 school leavers, 1,000 apprentices, 2,000 adult students, and 400 higher-level students studying with us. Our wide range of education options span entry level programmes through to degrees, higher technical qualifications, and accredited professional courses to courses for professional development. Our apprenticeships can be studied from level 2 to level 5 across a range of different career pathways. We are the largest provider of A-Level and vocational programmes for school leavers in the region; we offer nearly 35 A-Level subjects and over 80 vocational courses, including a wide range of T-Level pathways.
