SHYPS Cellular Pathology Department has a vacancy for a Secretary to join our busy support team at Hull Royal Infirmary. This role offers a great opportunity for a capable secretary with excellent organisational and communication skills to contribute to patient-focused support for the SHYPS network by providing comprehensive secretarial services to Pathology Consultants and their teams.

Selection will be by interview and a short skills assessment, held face-to-face on Wednesday, 25 June 2025.

The Cellular Pathology secretaries are part of a wider administrative team working in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment. Each secretary supports one or more clinical specialties.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing and tracking pathology cases, preparing information for weekly MDT meetings, providing secretarial support to Consultant Pathologists (including copy and audio typing), liaising with the Lab and clinical teams to progress cases, and managing cases referred into and out of the service for specialist work.

To ensure delivery across all specialties, Medical Secretaries provide cover to other areas where needed. They may also supervise Assistant Medical Secretaries, Administrators, and Typists within the team.
