Love retail, great chat, and a good eye for what looks just right in a display? We’re looking for an outgoing Retail Team Member to support our Retail Manager across our two boutique-style gift shops — one at York Community Stadium and one within York District Hospital. This is a role where you’ll genuinely feel the difference you’re making. We only sell new goods, and every penny we raise helps support people and families affected by cancer across the YO postcodes.
What you’ll be doing:
- Delivering a warm, friendly welcome and brilliant customer service
- Supporting day‑to‑day shop operations (tills, stock, merchandising, housekeeping)
- Creating attractive displays and keeping the shop looking fresh and inviting
- Helping customers find the perfect gift (and enjoying the buzz of a great sale)
- Supervising a team of dedicated retail volunteers
- Working across both locations as needed
Who will thrive here:
- Personable, confident, and happy starting conversations
- Someone who enjoys shopping and understands what customers want
- Naturally creative, with a good eye for colour, layout, and presentation
- Reliable, organised, and comfortable in a busy retail environment
- Aligned with our mission and proud to represent York Against Cancer
- Previous retail experience could be useful, however not a blocker if you haven’t had this.
Because this isn’t just retail. It’s retail with purpose — where your energy, care, and creativity help raise vital funds for local people when they need it most.
Permanent Role – Hours: 35 hour week contract. You will be required to work 32 hours across the week, with a shift pattern of 4 x 8 hour shifts over 6 days, + 3 flexible hours (occasional out-of-hours for events/charity needs).
Working pattern: 4 days working pattern Wed–Sat Then the following week Mon–Thurs
Benefits: Contributory pension scheme, private health insurance, local gym discounts
Location: York, across our two gift shops — one at York Community Stadium and one within York District Hospital
