The VP of DC Operations will ensure maximum readiness of the data center fleet and its mission goal of 99.999% uptime by governing and implementing program level procedures, such as lifecycle asset management system (i.e., data management, operation and maintenance strategies, day-to-day operation assessment, risk and emergency protocols). The role requires collaboration with all on-site data center teams and the leadership team to optimize operational readiness and customer satisfaction. The candidate should be well-versed in critical facility operations, program management, process optimization, incident management and stakeholder management.
Main Responsibilities
- Implement and develop consistent fleet-wide Method of Procedures (MOPs) for the critical DC equipment and commissioning scripts to ensure maximum readiness of the facility.
- Develop rigorous SOPs and EOPs to provide clear instruction sets to the operational teams across the region.
- Provide and maintain a safe and secure environment for our clients and our people to operate within.
- Implement and manage a rigorous change management system in line with the CIO requirements.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain/Logistics partners and Supply Chain Lead to develop streamlined processes to secure delivery and efficient provisioning of critical spares and equipment to sites in order to maintain continual uptime and mitigate future emergencies.
- Develop SLAs to optimize third-party vendor performance, and implement reporting procedures to ensure adherence to contractual SLAs continuously.
- Sound financial management, ownership of unit cost optimization.
- Establish Data Center performance benchmarks and enforce compliance to the targets. Provide analysis reports for improvement of the critical facility O&M.
- Work in collaboration with the office of the CIO to attain the relevant ISO and local Health, safety, quality and environmental standards (HSQE).
- Provide final acceptance and commissioning of the facility to ensure the site meets the customer’s specific requirements and standards.
- Responsibility for local sustainability requirements and public affairs.
- Manage Customer Relationship and function as a key escalation point for the on-site operation team.
- Participate in the selection of possible candidates for on-site operation teams across the region.
- Supervise the site facility managers, facility technicians, facility engineers, sub-contractors and third-party vendors, ensuring performance meeting program procedures and requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement within the operational teams across the portfolio and share best practice with regional peers.
- Provide strategic/tactical leadership on performance and reliability on critical MEP systems to the leadership team throughout the site planning phase to completion.
- Communicate between cross-functional teams – from on-site operating teams to the leadership – inform and distribute lessons learned, risk and best practices.
- Lead resolution of any issues within operating datacenter by managing the investigation, recovery plan and final mitigation.
Qualifications And Experience
- 10+ years of data center facility operations and maintenance experience.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in multiple data center facility operations.
- Proven track record in hiring strong leaders and building effective teams.
- Comprehensive expertise in Critical MEP system // UPS system, power distribution equipment, cooling towers, DX unit, hot/cold aisle containment, air handling units, building monitoring system, power monitoring system, medium voltage switch gears, generators, fire detection system. Understanding of network topology and hardware also required.
- Proven track record of establishing business strategy and achieving higher quality output for the organization.
- Superior analytical, planning and issue resolution skills and proven project management skills, establishing priorities and managing conflict.
