About The Role

As the Operations Engineer – Systems, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling the critical mechanical and electrical assets within our regional data centers, including the building management system (BMS) and the electrical power monitoring system (EPMS). The role focuses on ensuring optimal availability of these systems throughout their lifecycle, considering health, safety, environment, cost, investments, and customer requirements.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal availability of critical mechanical and electrical controls and monitoring systems.
  • Collaborate with site operational and technical teams, OEMs, and Facility Management partners to maintain system reliability.
  • Manage all customer service level agreements (SLAs) and produce reports on system performance, activities, and incidents.
  • Run trending and diagnostics on the BMS and EPMS, notifying operations personnel of any abnormalities.
  • Work closely with OEMs to stabilize monitoring and control systems.
  • Schedule and supervise necessary maintenance for BMS and EPMS.
  • Develop new interfaces (graphics) on request of the Data Center Operations and FM teams.
  • Train and assist internal customers and stakeholders in design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of BMS and EPMS systems.
  • Leverage data bus knowledge (e.g., Modbus, BACnet).
  • Apply strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems used in data centers, including feeders, transformers, generators, fuel systems, switchgear, UPS, battery banks, ATS/STS units, chillers, AHUs, CRAH/CRAC units, fire alarm systems, and fire suppression.
  • Experience with Siemens, Rockwell, ABB, Schneider PLCs, Wonderware SCADA, and Schneider Ecostruxure is preferred.
  • Interpret technical documents such as electrical diagrams, piping diagrams, and psychrometric charts.
  • Maintain health and safety awareness during operations.
  • Assist in reviewing and approving RAMS from contractors performing work in our facilities.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis to drive long‑term system improvements, possibly managing third‑party experts.
  • Implement asset lifecycle plans, including repair/replace strategies and capital project initiation.
  • Provide input to design teams regarding operational and maintainability aspects of existing and new designs.
  • Represent Yondr Operations during technical handover processes to ensure satisfactory testing and commissioning for all projects, including new data centers.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering field (experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • 8–10 years of relevant experience, with 5+ years in data centers or other critical environments.
  • Demonstrated skills in designing, maintaining, and operating mechanical and electrical monitoring and control systems in critical environments.
  • Experience delivering complex technical solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Results‑oriented, highly accountable, and organized.
  • Self‑motivated and detail‑oriented.
