In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring products and processes consistently meet customer, regulatory and business requirements. You will monitor process performance through data analysis, audits, inspections and Statistical Process Control (SPC), investigate quality issues using structured problem-solving techniques such as 8D and root cause analysis, and drive effective corrective and preventive actions.
Reporting to the Quality and Compliance Manager, you will be expected to make informed quality decisions, including stopping production where necessary to contain non-conforming products and protect customer quality. You will work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Planning, Suppliers and Customers to resolve quality concerns, improve manufacturing processes and ensure compliance with quality standards and procedures.
This is a shift role, working a 3 shift pattern, rotating weeks of 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm and 10pm - 6am. Overtime is available and the business offers a well-developed benefits package.
This is what you'll be doing:
- Support the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) using established quality engineering tools and techniques.
- Investigate quality issues through data analysis, audits and root cause investigations, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor process performance using SPC, dimensional data and quality metrics, providing timely feedback to production and key stakeholders.
- Conduct internal process and system audits, support external customer and certification audits, and ensure document control compliance.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Suppliers and Customers to resolve quality concerns, reduce scrap and improve manufacturing performance.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI), process control activities and shop floor quality training to drive product quality and continuous improvement.
The experience you'll need in this role:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience using core quality tools including 8D, FMEA, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), PPAP and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Experience working within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment, supporting production quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
- BTEC (or equivalent) qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing or Science, or at least 3 years' relevant quality engineering experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience of root cause analysis, data interpretation and implementing robust corrective actions.
- Experience conducting internal quality audits and supporting ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or AS9100 quality management systems (desirable).
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, with Green Belt or Black Belt certification considered advantageous.
