Yolk Recruitment are supporting the recruitment campaign for a newly created New Product Development Technologist opportunity with an established food manufacturing business. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Food Technologist or NPD professional to play a key role in developing innovative products from initial concept through to successful commercial launch.
Working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will collaborate with customers, commercial teams, technical specialists, production, procurement, and suppliers to develop products that meet customer expectations, quality standards, food safety requirements, and manufacturing capabilities. This role will suit a creative and technically strong Food Technologist who enjoys turning ideas into commercially successful products and working across the full product development lifecycle.
As a New Product Development Technologist, you will support the development, improvement, and launch of new and existing products. You will be responsible for managing development activities from early-stage concepts through trials, validation, and production implementation.
Key responsibilities:- Support the development of new products from concept through to factory trials and commercial launch.
- Develop and improve products in line with customer briefs, market trends, and business requirements.
- Plan and support product trials, including scale-up from development into manufacturing.
- Create and maintain product specifications, recipes, formulations, and technical documentation.
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Technical, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to deliver successful launches.
- Support customer projects through product development, sampling, and approval stages.
- Carry out product evaluations, competitor reviews, and ingredient assessments to identify opportunities for innovation.
- Investigate product or process challenges and recommend improvements.
- Ensure products meet food safety, legislative, and customer requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and product optimisation projects.

- Experience within NPD, product development, or process development within food manufacturing.
- Knowledge of food manufacturing processes, ingredients, and product development.
- Understanding of HACCP, allergens, food safety, and food legislation.
