Location: Bristol Office Based.

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Credit Controller to join their Internal Finance Team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in credit control and gain hands-on experience within professional services.

Role

You will play a key part in supporting the timely collection of invoices, helping to maintain healthy cash flow and positive client relationships. You will be supported by the wider finance team, with opportunities to grow your knowledge and skills in credit control as you gain experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Review aged debt reports and identify overdue balances
  • Contact clients via telephone, email, or letter to follow up on outstanding invoices
  • Support the agreement and monitoring of repayment plans where appropriate
  • Keep clear and accurate notes of client conversations and agreed actions
  • Assist with reports on overdue invoices and collections activity
  • Liaise with Client Managers to support debt recovery where required
  • Raise, review, and issue sales invoices using XPM and Xero
  • Take card payments and set up direct debits for clients
  • Bank cheques and cash as needed
  • Provide general support to the wider finance team

About you

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Well organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Confident using Microsoft Office
  • Interest in finance and credit control, with a willingness to learn
  • Resilient and able to manage competing priorities

Previous exposure to credit control or finance is preferred.

Experience and qualifications

  • GCSE Maths grade 6 or above (or equivalent) is preferred
  • AAT qualification (or part-qualified) is desirable
  • Some experience in an office, finance, or customer-facing role is a bonus, but not essential
  • A keen interest in finance and a willingness to learn is more important than formal experience
