Yolk Recruitment are supporting a leading manufacturing business with the recruitment of a Production Shift Manager to join their growing operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manufacturing leader to take responsibility for driving production performance, quality, health & safety and continuous improvement across a busy production environment.
Leading a team of approximately 15 direct reports, you'll also take overall responsibility for Production, Quality, Stores and Maintenance teams during night shifts, ensuring the site operates safely and efficiently.
This is what you'll be doing:
- Leading and motivating a production team of approximately 15 direct reports whilst providing leadership across Production, Quality, Stores and Maintenance teams during night shifts.
- Delivering the production plan to achieve OTIF targets whilst responding proactively to changes in production priorities and operational demands.
- Monitoring production performance, quality standards and Health & Safety, ensuring all activities are completed safely and efficiently.
- Driving Continuous Improvement initiatives, including scrap reduction and process improvements to enhance productivity and KPI performance.
- Monitoring production schedules, identifying potential issues before they impact delivery and working closely with other departments to minimise delays.
- Issuing work instructions and raw materials to support efficient production operations.
- Completing shift reports and conducting detailed handovers with other Shift Managers to ensure continuity across shifts.
- Carrying out performance reviews, coaching and training production employees to support development and improve overall team performance.
- Maintaining high housekeeping and 5S standards throughout the production environment.
- Working closely with the Production Manager to improve operational performance, customer service levels and manufacturing efficiency.
The experience you'll bring:
- Previous experience within a Production Shift Manager, Manufacturing Supervisor or Production Team Leader position.
- Proven experience leading teams within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety, Quality and Continuous Improvement.
- Experience managing production plans whilst reacting positively to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication, organisational and people management skills.
- Proven problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to improving operational performance.
- Experience of Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Six Sigma would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Visual Performance Management, Leader Standard Work or ERP systems would also be beneficial.
- Automotive manufacturing experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
