Yolk Recruitment is supporting an established logistics organisation with the recruitment of a Logistics Account Manager to join their team based in Cwmbran. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Logistics, Transport or Freight professional who enjoys combining customer account management with hands-on transport coordination.
You'll take ownership of a portfolio of new and existing customers, managing their transport requirements across the UK and Europe from initial booking through to successful delivery. You'll act as a key point of contact for your customers, coordinating collections and deliveries, working closely with carriers and subcontractors, resolving transport issues and ensuring customers are kept informed throughout. The original brief places particular emphasis on owning the whole customer experience rather than simply processing transport bookings.
This is what you'll be doing:
- Managing relationships with a portfolio of new and existing customer accounts, becoming a key point of contact for their day-to-day transport requirements.
- Coordinating customer transport bookings and shipments across the UK and Europe, ensuring collection and delivery requirements are understood and progressed effectively.
- Processing customer orders and transport requirements accurately, producing confirmations with relevant collection and delivery information.
- Supporting load planning and freight coordination, taking into account customer requirements, transit times, vehicle requirements and operational constraints.
- Maintaining regular communication with customers throughout the transport journey, providing updates from collection through to final delivery.
- Proactively managing delays, changes and transport-related problems, working with customers, carriers and internal teams to achieve an effective resolution.
- Liaising with external hauliers, carriers and subcontractors, monitoring service levels and challenging performance where required.
- Ensuring customer-specific requirements, agreed service levels and key delivery timescales are consistently achieved.
- Producing and maintaining accurate transport and account information across internal systems.
- Generating weekly and monthly customer data and management information, supporting key account reviews and performance reporting.
- Providing general administration and reporting across the complete transport process.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to manage workloads and ensure customers continue to receive a high level of service.
The experience you'll bring:
- Previous experience within Logistics, Transport, Freight Forwarding or a similar operational environment.
- Experience within road freight, transport bookings, collections and deliveries.
- Strong customer-facing experience, ideally managing your own customers or key accounts within a Logistics environment.
- An understanding of UK and/or European transport, including transit times, vehicle types and loading requirements.
- Experience liaising with external hauliers, carriers or subcontractors.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to take ownership of delays, service issues and changing customer requirements.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
- Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple shipments, customers and priorities simultaneously.
And this is what you'll get in return:
- Salary up to £35,000
- Private medical insurance
- Enhanced holiday entitlement with length of service, increasing annually
- 21 days annual leave (includes Birthday off) plus 8 bank holidays
- Company pension
- Life insurance
- Health & wellbeing programme
- Free on-site parking
- Recognition scheme
- Training and development
- Genuine progression opportunities within a growing global business.
