Senior Finance Buyer in Cardiff

I'm recruiting for an experienced Senior Buyer to join a well-established organisation in Cardiff, taking a key role in delivering strategic procurement activity across the business. This would be an excellent opportunity for someone currently working within financial services or another highly regulated environment, including candidates from the public sector, who understands the importance of strong procurement governance, risk management and robust commercial processes. You'll manage complex indirect procurement activity from initial sourcing and competitive tendering through to negotiation, contracting and ongoing supplier management. What you'll be doing ✔ Leading end-to-end procurement activity including sourcing, tendering, supplier evaluation and contract negotiation ✔ Developing category strategies focused on value, risk and business objectives ✔ Managing complex indirect spend and business-critical procurement projects ✔ Partnering with senior stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver commercially focused solutions ✔ Driving value through cost management, supplier rationalisation and risk mitigation ✔ Supporting supplier performance and third-party relationship management ✔ Providing procurement advice and guidance across the organisation ✔ Supporting procurement governance, policy and continuous improvement ✔ Leading procurement workstreams within wider strategic change programmes ✔ Helping embed best practice across supplier risk management and ESG What I'm looking for You'll ideally bring: 🔹 Strong experience within financial services, the public sector or another regulated environment 🔹 Proven experience managing complex indirect procurement activity 🔹 Strong commercial and contract negotiation skills 🔹 Experience leading competitive tender exercises and delivering measurable savings 🔹 Experience supporting high-value or business-critical projects 🔹 Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to challenge and influence 🔹 Strong analytical and commercial capability 🔹 Experience in supplier relationship and performance management 🔹 MCIPS, or currently working towards completion Why consider it? ✨ 35-hour working week ✨ Genuine hybrid working with a minimum of 8 office days per month ✨ Collaborative and supportive working environment ✨ Opportunity to influence procurement strategy and deliver meaningful change ✨ Strong focus on employee wellbeing and inclusion If you're an experienced procurement professional who enjoys operating in a structured, regulated environment and wants a role where you can genuinely influence commercial outcomes, I'd love to hear from you. 📩 Apply today or contact me directly for a confidential conversation
