Yolk Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading South Wales organisation with the appointment of a Solicitor to join its established in‑house legal team.
This is a great opportunity for a 2+ PQE solicitor with a contentious or regulatory background who is looking to move in‑house or develop their existing in‑house experience within a broad, commercially focused role.
The Role
This is a varied and fast‑paced position, providing legal advice and support across the operational side of the organisation.
You'll work closely with colleagues across the business, helping to deliver practical, commercially sound legal solutions.
Your responsibilities will include:
Advising on a variety of contentious and non‑contentious matters.
Managing commercial, customer and property disputes, litigation and enforcement matters.
Supporting regulatory enforcement and prosecution activity.
Advising on property, land, access and asset‑related matters.
Supporting environmental and regulatory issues.
Instructing and managing external legal advisers.
Preparing cases relating to statutory rights and powers.
Providing legal input on customer and third‑party complaints.
Legal research, drafting and negotiation.
Supporting legal and regulatory horizon scanning.
Supervising and mentoring junior legal professionals.
The role is particularly suited to someone who enjoys variety and is comfortable working in a reactive, high‑volume environment.
You'll need to be able to manage competing priorities, learn quickly and provide clear, practical advice to stakeholders across the organisation.
About You
We're looking for a qualified solicitor with around 2+ years' PQE.
PQE is a guide, and relevant experience will be considered.
You'll ideally have experience in one or more of the following:
Litigation / disputes
Property litigation
Non‑contentious property
Regulatory law
Prosecutions
Environmental law
You don't need to have experience across every area.
What's most important is a strong legal foundation, excellent training and the ability to apply your knowledge commercially.
We're particularly interested in candidates who are:
Commercially minded and solutions‑focused.
Confident managing their own workload.
Comfortable dealing with a broad range of stakeholders.
Able to translate legal risk into practical business advice.
Adaptable and quick to learn.
Calm and credible when dealing with competing demands.
Experience within utilities or another regulated industry would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Property litigation, land/access or environmental regulatory experience would also be particularly relevant.
Why Join?
You'll be joining a well‑established legal team within a major organisation at an exciting time of change.
The role offers genuine variety, exposure to the operational side of the business and the opportunity to develop your career across a broad range of legal and regulatory matters.
The benefits package includes:
Up to 11% employer pension contribution
