Yolk Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading SME who have seen recent investment and expansion into new markets. This is an exciting time to join a growing engineering business working on specialist equipment used across a diverse range of production and industrial sectors. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a skilled team, working predominantly within a workshop environment with occasional travel to customer sites across the UK and Europe. This is what you'll be doing: As a Maintenance Technician, you'll be involved in the build, installation, fault finding, maintenance and commissioning of automated mechanical and electrical systems. As the equipment is highly automated, we're looking for someone with a solid electrical and controls understanding who can logically fault find and diagnose problems, alongside good practical mechanical skills. You don't necessarily need to be an electrical specialist, but you will need genuine hands-on electrical competence and be comfortable working with control panels, electrical schematics, multimeters, three-phase equipment and automated systems. Electrical / Controls: Read and interpret electrical schematics to trace and diagnose faults. Confidently use a multimeter for electrical testing and fault finding. Carry out practical electrical fitting and wiring work. Safely isolate equipment and replace faulty electrical components. Fault find across control panels, three-phase motors, relays, contactors, sensors and associated controls. Work with variable speed drives/inverters, including fault finding, set-up and commissioning with support where required. Fault find PLC-controlled equipment, primarily through I/O, signals and diagnostics rather than programming. Support the testing and commissioning of automated equipment both within the workshop and on customer sites. Mechanical: Diagnose mechanical faults using technical drawings and schematics. Strip, inspect, repair and rebuild pumps and associated mechanical equipment. Repair and replace components across hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including solenoids, valves and actuators. Work with pumps, valves, pipework and associated fluid systems. Carry out general mechanical fitting, assembly, installation and maintenance activities. What you'll need to succeed: Strong practical fault-finding skills across automated equipment. A solid electrical/control understanding and a logical approach to diagnosing faults. Confidence reading electrical schematics and using a multimeter. Practical experience working with electrical panels and control components. Experience with three-phase equipment, motors and drives/inverters. Good mechanical aptitude, ideally including pumps, hydraulics and pneumatics. PLC diagnostic experience would be advantageous, although full programming experience isn't required. Previous maintenance, service, installation or commissioning experience within an industrial environment. Willingness to travel to customer sites when required. We're open to engineers from a variety of backgrounds including maintenance, manufacturing, field service, installation and commissioning. What's most important is that you can demonstrate genuine hands-on fault-finding ability across automated electromechanical equipment. And this is what you'll get in return: £43,000 starting salary Monday to Friday days Annual salary review Enhanced overtime rates Additional allowances when travelling Pension scheme Life insurance Healthcare benefits Ongoing training and development Regular company socials Opportunity to develop your electrical, controls and commissioning knowledge Exposure to specialist automated equipment and projects across a variety of industries You'll be joining a well-established, growing business offering stability, technical development and the opportunity to work on equipment from initial build and testing through to installation and commissioning. Are you up to the challenge? If you're a hands-on engineer who enjoys fault finding, problem solving and getting to the bottom of electrical and ideally mechanical problems too, apply today!
