The Opportunity
We're working with an established and growing business to recruit an experienced Estimator to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in construction estimating who enjoys working across the full estimating process, from carrying out site surveys and understanding customer requirements through to producing accurate quotations, specifications and Bills of Materials. You'll play an important role in ensuring projects are accurately priced, commercially viable and fully prepared before work begins, while building strong relationships with both new and existing customers.
This is what you'll be doing
- As the Estimator, you'll take ownership of the estimating process and work closely with customers, contractors and internal teams to ensure projects are accurately scoped and delivered.
- Prepare accurate quotations and estimates in line with customer requirements, agreed SLAs and company profit margins.
- Attend customer meetings and carry out detailed site surveys to understand project requirements, site restrictions and specifications.
- Review drawings, specifications and project information to develop accurate scopes of work and pricing.
- Produce detailed Bills of Materials, ensuring the required materials, tools, plant and equipment are available ahead of project commencement.
- Support the wider team with new business opportunities, customer meetings and contract retention through a high level of service and commercial awareness.
This is what you'll bring to the team
- We're looking for an experienced Estimator with a strong understanding of construction projects and a commercially focused approach.
- Previous experience estimating construction works is essential.
- Experience using CAD and strong knowledge of drawings and technical specifications.
- Good understanding of relevant construction legislation, standards and requirements.
- Strong Excel and general IT skills; experience with Sage 200 would be advantageous.
- CSCS, IOSH, SMSTS or a higher-level qualification would be desirable.
- You'll also be organised, customer-focused and confident communicating with a range of stakeholders.
- A strong eye for detail, good problem-solving skills and the ability to make commercially sound decisions will be important in this role.
