MERITUS are partnered with a leading Project Controls Consultancy to appoint an experienced Commercial / Contracts Manager to support complex projects and portfolios across pre- and post-contract stages at a Water Industry client in Tamworth. This role is well suited to a Chartered Commercial / Contracts Manager with extensive experience in commercial contract management, procurement, and supplier relationship management within regulated or infrastructure-led environments.
The Commercial Manager will play a key role in supporting projects and programmes to deliver strategic portfolio objectives. You will utilise strong commercial acumen, contract management expertise, and supply chain experience to drive efficiencies, manage risk, and ensure robust commercial governance across high-value contracts. The role is based on client site in Tamworth (4 days per week on-site).
Responsibilities
- Manage and report on all commercial aspects of projects, ensuring compliance with corporate governance and cost reporting requirements
- Lead commercial review, valuation, and approval of high-value and high-risk contractor applications
- Provide expert advice on change control, scope changes, risk mitigation, and dispute avoidance
- Manage contract administration, including payments, valuations, contractual notices, and final accounts
- Support pre-contract procurement, negotiations, cost analysis, benchmarking, and estimating improvement
Required Skills
- Proven experience in commercial management across projects and programmes within utilities, rail, or infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts, procurement strategies, and principal contract roles
- Demonstrated experience in client-facing or consultancy environments
- Ability to manage supplier relationships and drive supply chain efficiencies
- Degree-qualified with Chartered status (RICS) or actively working toward chartership
