Our client, a leading Tier 1 contractor specialising in technically complex pharmaceutical and cleanroom projects, is seeking an experienced Senior Site Engineer to join their team. If you have a strong civil engineering background with a sharp eye for quality, tolerances, and project coordination, this is a superb opportunity to work on high-profile, precision-driven projects.
Role Overview:
As Senior Site Engineer, you\’ll be responsible for leading and coordinating key engineering activities on site, ensuring all works meet strict quality, safety, and specification requirements. You\’ll support the management of critical technical packages, interface with clients and design teams, and play a vital role in delivering seamless project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead engineering activities on site and manage interfaces across multiple technical packages including concrete, drainage, steelwork, flooring, facades, and cleanrooms.
Analyse design details and tolerances to identify and address potential issues early.
Create and review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) ensuring quality control and compliance with project specifications.
Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), ensuring prompt resolution and understanding of remedial costs.
Support permit systems and ensure adherence to lifting operations and temporary works procedures.
Prepare and review method statements, risk assessments, and oversee the technical submittal and RFI processes.
Lead site meetings and coordinate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and design teams.
Maintain excellent communication, reporting, and documentation standards throughout the project.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a positive safety culture on site.
Your Experience & Skills:
Proven experience as a Senior Site Engineer within civil engineering, pharmaceutical, or cleanroom environments.
Strong knowledge of quality control principles and Inspection & Test Plans for complex construction packages.
Competent in managing tolerances for vertical and horizontal structural elements.
Skilled in handling Non-Conformance procedures, with a focus on timely resolution.
Familiarity with permit to work systems, lifting operations, and temporary works coordination.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital construction management platforms such as A-Site, Dalux, or Viewpoint.
Experience in design coordination and client interface management.
Qualifications:
Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
Temporary Works Coordinator training.
Awareness or certification in Lifting Operations/Appointed Person (e.g., A61 CPCS).
Scaffold inspection or awareness qualification desirable.
Planning & Programming software experience.
SMSTS or SSSTS certification (UK), MSIC (Ireland) or equivalent.
