MERITUS are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client within the sovereign defence industry on an initial 6 month contract from their site in Bristol.
MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - INSIDE IR35 - Β£50 PER HOUR - BRISTOL - ELIGIBLE FOR SC - 6 MONTHS - 37 HOUR WEEK - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS - 4 DAYS A WEEK ON SITE
An opportunity to become part of Europe's No. 1 Missile Systems Designer, as a Mechanical Design Engineer. You will work closely with other functional teams, to develop products to meet our customer's needs. Within this role you will have the opportunity to undertake cutting-edge research of novel mechanical technologies to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out Mechanical Design and proving activities as part of a wider team for prime and variant products, of both piece parts and assemblies.
- Support/liaise with manufacturing, resolving manufacturing problems & defects.
- Support to functional & environmental testing and trials.
- Liaise with suppliers/purchasing to resolve any technical queries that may arise.
- Planning and reporting on own day-to-day activities to meet project milestones.
- Gain clarification of and help to generate requirements, including challenging of extraneous requirements to reduce lead time, UPC and design complexity

- An ability to work as part of a multifunctional engineering team and be able to partake in or host design reviews.
- An appreciation of other engineering areas/domains.
