Mechanical Shift Engineer (BBBH42163) Lydney, England

Role overview

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer required to provide comprehensive maintenance and electrical breakdown support to the mill’s departments, enabling operation at agreed availability and performance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Identify failure modes of plant equipment and restore equipment to operation safely and in a timely manner.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment breakdowns.
  • Collaborate with engineering day teams to identify and resolve long-term engineering issues.
  • Follow up shift reports, SAP and other inspection reports detailing corrective actions.
  • Locate spare parts using the maintenance management system; collect and return spares to stores.
  • Identify failure modes of electrical equipment and recommend preventative measures to avoid recurrence.
  • Obtain maintenance schedules from the maintenance management system (SAP) and feed back work carried out; record new work using notifications.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance routines as required.
  • What we’ll need from you
  • Sound knowledge of electrical engineering principles with experience in fitting, turning, general fabrication, rigging and lifting of heavy loads; formal technical qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • Familiarity with the 17th Edition IEE Regulations.
  • General knowledge of motor control, instrumentation, PLCs and modern drive systems in a continuous process industry.
  • Good working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and application in a continuous process environment.
  • Strong drive, motivation and commitment; self-starting and energetic approach aligned with objectives and business goals.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to assimilate, organise and analyse information for logical problem solving.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate with practical experience of CMMS systems.
  • Team player with a flexible approach to work.
