Yolk Recruitment is supporting the hire of a Furnace Manager for a long-established industrial site in South Wales. This is a senior, hands-on role overseeing furnace operations across multiple shifts, ensuring smooth production, and driving performance improvements. You will be a key part of the on-site management team, responsible for leading experienced teams, coordinating activities, and ensuring the efficient running of high-capacity furnaces. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference, combining operational leadership with people management, problem-solving, and process oversight in a well-equipped industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations across multiple furnace shifts, ensuring production targets are met.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of shift leaders and furnace operators.
  • Oversee scheduling, resource allocation, and shift performance to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with metallurgists and process engineers on trials and process improvements.
  • Monitor furnace performance, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, yield, and team performance.
  • Maintain clear communication across all shifts, supporting a consistent and high-performing team culture.

What We're Looking For:

  • Practical experience managing industrial furnaces or smelter operations would be preferred, but we are open to speaking with experienced yard managers who have strong operational and team leadership skills.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Knowledge of production planning and process optimisation.
  • Hands-on problem-solving ability in a multi-shift industrial environment.
  • Confidence managing a team of experienced operators and team leaders.
