Overview

Production Test Engineer (Electronics) – Stevenage/Bolton. Contract role (12 months) with HNC/HND essential, £36ph via Umbrella. Role to be filled with a manufacturing team within a large weapons systems manufacturer.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Test Engineering support during Design / Development phases from initial concept through to Production Readiness Review and release to Operations.
  • Support Test Facility introduction and ensure configuration control of equipment and facilities prior to use, including generating supporting test specifications and operator instructions.
  • Support testing of electrical/electronic weapon systems and sub-assemblies, with diagnosis of production test failures down to circuit card and potentially component level.
  • Identify remedial and corrective actions to allow Manufacturing to continue production in line with programme.
  • Evaluate technical problems to develop proposals for test equipment investigations and corrective actions, including process improvements.
  • Act as Test Engineering representative at Defect Review Board meetings to ensure efficient progress of equipment and quality notifications towards corrective action.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • HNC/HND (Electronics) or equivalent, plus good level of experience in digital and analogue electronics manufacture and test.
  • Good understanding of measurement and test principles and associated test equipment.
  • Understanding of the CADMID product lifecycle for test equipment is desirable.
  • Understanding of RF and microwave technology at subsystem level would be an advantage.
  • Understanding of environmental testing (including ESS) would be an advantage.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including ability to generate test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports from higher-level requirements.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan and organise own work to prioritise and deliver against project objectives.
  • Manual handling training and ESD training.
