Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-focused Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced finance professional or a candidate currently studying AAT, CIMA or ACCA, with full study support available.
Working Hours & Benefits
- Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 5:00pm
- 24 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Study support available for AAT, CIMA or ACCA candidates

Key Responsibilities
- Purchase Ledger
- Set up new supplier accounts
- Raise and process purchase orders
- Process invoices and credit notes
- Reconcile supplier statements
- Investigate and resolve supplier queries
- Sales Ledger
- Set up new customer accounts
- Allocate cash receipts accurately
- Support credit control activities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer balances
- Treasury and Banking
- Prepare supplier payment runs
- Post bank transactions
- Perform regular bank reconciliations
- Support daily cash and balance reporting
- Month-End Support
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare and post standard journals in line with month-end deadlines
- Statutory & Compliance Reporting
- Complete Office for National Statistics (ONS) surveys as required
- Support preparation of quarterly VAT returns
- Maintain accurate supporting records and documentation
About You
- Previous experience in a finance or accounts role, or currently studying AAT, CIMA or ACCA
- Strong attention to detail and high level of numerical accuracy
- Good organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Confident using accounting systems and Excel
- A proactive, team-focused approach with a willingness to develop
