MERITUS is excited to be working with a growing Aerospace Manufacturing business based in Southampton. The organisation manufactures bespoke Aerospace components for both commercial and military applications. They are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join their Engineering team. This role is ideal for candidates with a background in highly regulated industries such as Aerospace, Defence, or Nuclear, where compliance, traceability, and precision are critical.
You will play a key role in maintaining and improving the Quality Management System, supporting audits, and driving continuous improvement across the manufacturing lifecycle. This position is central to ensuring adherence to standards such as AS9100 and ISO 9001, while embedding a strong quality culture across engineering and production teams.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead and support internal, external, and customer audits
- Drive structured problem-solving using 8D and Root Cause Analysis
- Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Develop and implement inspection processes across production stages
- Monitor and analyse quality KPIs to drive continuous improvement
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Quality Engineer in a regulated manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer requirements
- Experience with quality tools including FMEA, PPAP, SPC, and 8D
- Hands-on auditing experience (internal, supplier, or external audits)
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
