Role Overview
This role is focused on ensuring housing stock is safe, compliant and well managed, with particular responsibility for fire and building safety. You will act as the subject matter expert for fire safety across the housing portfolio, overseeing fire risk assessments, fire door compliance and associated remedial works. The role combines technical surveying, contractor management and compliance oversight, ensuring all works meet legal and health and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee fire safety compliance across the housing stock, ensuring all legal and regulatory standards are met
- Manage the Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) programme, including reviewing reports and ensuring remedial actions are completed
- Oversee fire door inspection contracts and manage any repairs or replacements required
- Procure and manage contractors delivering fire safety works
- Prepare specifications, tender documents and oversee procurement processes
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure safe working practices
- Carry out site inspections to ensure compliance with fire safety and building safety standards
- Support compliance with Housing Health Safety Rating System (HHSRS), with a focus on fire risk
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including fire safety regulations, CDM and wider health and safety requirements
- Maintain accurate compliance records and systems
- Produce reports on fire safety compliance and performance for senior management
- Liaise with residents, contractors and stakeholders regarding fire safety works
Key Requirements
- Relevant qualification in a building, surveying or fire safety discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Strong understanding of fire safety legislation and building safety requirements
- Knowledge of HHSRS, particularly in relation to fire risk
- Awareness of health and safety legislation and CDM regulations
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Right to work in the UK
Experience
- Experience managing fire safety within social housing or a similar property environment
- Experience overseeing Fire Risk Assessments and associated remedial programmes
