Mechanical Project Engineer - Contract, Outside IR35, 6 months

Chepstow

Rate dependent on experience

Yolk Recruitment is supporting a well-established manufacturing business with the recruitment of a Contract Mechanical Project Engineer to support a significant programme of site investment.

This is a 6 month contract, working alongside an experienced Project Manager to deliver a range of CapEx and engineering projects across a busy operational manufacturing site. There is a substantial programme of investment underway, with projects at different stages and an immediate need for someone experienced enough to get up to speed quickly and take ownership.

The site combines long-established plant and machinery with significant ongoing investment in replacement and upgraded equipment, so this will suit someone comfortable delivering projects in a live, brownfield manufacturing environment rather than working purely on new-build projects.

This is what you'll be doing

  • Deliver mechanical and site engineering projects from scope through to installation, commissioning and handover
  • Take ownership of a number of CapEx projects at different stages of delivery
  • Develop project scopes and engineering solutions with site stakeholders
  • Manage contractors, suppliers and installation activity
  • Support tendering, specification, procurement and project cost control
  • Coordinate project activity around live manufacturing requirements
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and in line with site standards

The experience you'll bring to the team

  • Experience delivering engineering or CapEx projects within manufacturing, process or heavy industry
  • Strong mechanical engineering background
  • Experience managing contractors and external suppliers
  • Experience taking projects from scope and specification through installation and commissioning
  • Good understanding of RAMS, permit to work, contractor control and site safety
  • HNC/HND in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of live projects with minimal supervision

And this is what you'll get in return

  • 6 month initial contract
  • Rate dependent on experience
  • Immediate start available
  • Varied programme of mechanical and CapEx projects
  • Opportunity to work on a site receiving significant ongoing investment
