This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified lawyer with Court of Protection experience to join an established practice handling complex Property and Affairs Deputyship matters. You'll work alongside experienced senior lawyers, supporting vulnerable and brain-injured clients and their families while developing your expertise across deputyship, trusts and potentially contentious matters.

This is what you will be doing

As a Court of Protection Solicitor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing litigation support, including on contentious deputyship matters where required.
  • Supporting trust administration and advising trustees.
  • Handling new enquiries and maintaining strong relationships with clients and their families.
  • Managing payments and maintaining accurate records relating to clients' affairs.
  • Attending clients where required.
  • Delegating and supervising appropriate work to paralegals and trainees.
  • Working in accordance with SRA requirements and OPG Deputy Standards.
  • Contributing towards agreed billing targets and the wider development of the team.

The experience you will bring to the team

You will bring the following experience to the team:

  • Qualification as a Solicitor or FCILEx Legal Executive.
  • Around 1-5 years' PQE.
  • Previous experience within Court of Protection law and practice.
  • Experience of Property and Affairs work, ideally within a busy team.
  • The confidence to build trusted relationships with vulnerable clients, families and other parties.
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines and responsibility for your own workload.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience involving statutory funding challenges or education appeals would be useful but is not essential.

This is what you will get in return

  • Competitive salary dependent on experience.
  • A permanent, full-time position.
  • 37.5-hour working week with flexible working hours.
  • Some hybrid working, subject to the needs of the team.
  • The opportunity to join an established specialist Court of Protection practice.
  • Exposure to complex deputyship work and the opportunity to develop your expertise alongside experienced lawyers.
  • A Bristol-based role with a firm offering a strong platform for continued professional development.
