A well-established and growing SME based in Brecon is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join its finance team. This is a fully site-based role offering the opportunity to take ownership of the day-to-day financial administration of the business while working closely with senior management.
This position would suit a detail-oriented and proactive finance professional who enjoys working within a fast-paced SME environment and can confidently manage bookkeeping activities from transaction processing through to month-end support.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers
- Process purchase and sales invoices
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Perform bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring
- Prepare and submit VAT returns
- Process payroll and maintain employee records (if applicable)
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company procedures
- Monitor and improve financial processes where appropriate
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in a Bookkeeper or similar finance position
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial controls
- Experience preparing VAT returns and conducting reconciliations
- Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
- AAT qualification or equivalent would be advantageous but is not essential
- Salary up to £38,000 depending on experience
