A well-established and growing SME based in Brecon is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join its finance team. This is a fully site-based role offering the opportunity to take ownership of the day-to-day financial administration of the business while working closely with senior management.

This position would suit a detail-oriented and proactive finance professional who enjoys working within a fast-paced SME environment and can confidently manage bookkeeping activities from transaction processing through to month-end support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ledgers
  • Process purchase and sales invoices
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Perform bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns
  • Process payroll and maintain employee records (if applicable)
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Liaise with external accountants and auditors
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company procedures
  • Monitor and improve financial processes where appropriate
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a Bookkeeper or similar finance position
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial controls
  • Experience preparing VAT returns and conducting reconciliations
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
  • AAT qualification or equivalent would be advantageous but is not essential
