Technical Engineer
Yolk Recruitment are supporting the recruitment of a Technical Engineer to join an established engineering business.
This is a hands-on technical role focused on BOMs, engineering change control, component selection and Design for Manufacture, working closely with customers, suppliers and internal engineering teams.

As a Technical Engineer, you will be responsible for reviewing customer requirements and ensuring products can be manufactured correctly and efficiently.
You will work across engineering, production, purchasing, suppliers and customers to resolve technical queries, manage changes and maintain accurate product information.
Key responsibilities
- Interpret and analyse customer Bills of Materials, identifying components, manufacturers and relevant order codes.
- Create and control Engineering Change Notes (ECNs) and Temporary Change Notes/Build Deviations.
- Research and assess electronic and mechanical components, including identifying suitable alternative parts.
- Update BOMs and product information in line with customer engineering changes.
- Investigate and resolve component-related issues, including obsolescence, component identification and production suitability.
- Liaise with customers and suppliers regarding product build standards, technical queries and engineering changes.
- Support Design for Manufacturing activities and work with production teams to identify practical manufacturing solutions.
- Maintain accurate engineering and customer documentation throughout the change process.

- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
- Experience working in an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Experience with BOM structures, engineering change control, component approval or DFM would be highly beneficial.
