Yolk Legal are working on an exciting and exclusive opportunity for a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join a well-established organisation with a strong national presence. This role offers the chance to work as part of a collaborative in-house legal team, providing advice across a broad range of commercial, regulatory and governance matters. This is a varied position that would suit a solicitor who enjoys partnering with stakeholders across the business, managing diverse legal workstreams, and delivering pragmatic, solution-focused advice. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting commercial objectives while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance across the organisation.

The Role

Working closely with senior leadership and business stakeholders, you will provide legal support across a wide range of commercial and operational matters. Responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts and agreements.
  • Advising on commercial, contractual and regulatory matters across multiple business functions.
  • Supporting the organisation's compliance framework, including data protection and privacy obligations.
  • Providing guidance on UK GDPR, data protection policies, breach management, data subject requests and compliance initiatives.
  • Assisting with corporate governance and company secretarial matters where required.
  • Supporting the management of external legal advisers and specialist counsel.
  • Advising on intellectual property, brand protection and risk management issues.
  • Assisting with dispute resolution and litigation matters, including coordination with external advisers.
  • Reviewing and updating internal policies, procedures and legal documentation.
  • Developing and maintaining legal precedents, templates and know-how resources.
  • Delivering legal training and awareness sessions to stakeholders across the business.
  • Supporting wider governance, compliance and regulatory projects.

The Experience You Will Have as a Legal Counsel

Applications are welcomed from qualified solicitors who enjoy working in a fast-paced commercial environment and can build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels. You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales.
  • Ideally 3+ years' post-qualification experience, although candidates with equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Strong commercial contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and pragmatic problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience advising on a broad range of business and regulatory matters.
  • Knowledge of data protection legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and workstreams simultaneously.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to working with internal teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Experience gained in-house or within private practice will be considered.
