Yolk Recruitment are supporting a leading high-tech manufacturing business with the search of an Environmental & Sustainability Engineer. This is a hands-on environmental role within a large manufacturing site, responsible for maintaining and improving the site's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and ISO 50001 Energy Management System, while ensuring ongoing compliance with UK environmental legislation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Environmental Engineer, Environmental Advisor or Environmental Specialist with manufacturing experience to take ownership of a broad environmental and sustainability remit within an established site.

As Environmental & Sustainability Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining environmental and energy management standards across a large manufacturing operation of 600+ employees. You will be responsible for:

  • Environmental compliance, permitting, auditing, energy management, sustainability and continuous improvement, working closely with internal teams, contractors and external regulatory bodies.
  • Leading and maintaining the site's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Supporting and maintaining the site's ISO 50001 Energy Management System in partnership with the Facilities team.
  • Managing environmental and sustainability compliance obligations across the manufacturing site.
  • Maintaining and managing Environmental Permits and licences, including EPR, carbon trading permits and effluent discharge requirements.
  • Acting as a key point of contact with Natural Resources Wales and other relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Environmental Permitting Regulations and associated reporting requirements.
  • Overseeing environmental aspects of waste management, including hazardous waste collections, documentation and waste contractors.
  • Investigating environmental incidents, identifying corrective actions and ensuring appropriate reporting.
  • Developing environmental policies, procedures, documentation and guidance to support legal and best-practice requirements.
  • Monitoring environmental performance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintaining environmental records, certificates, permits and regulatory documentation.

  • Experience working within an Environmental role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with environmental compliance and legislation within manufacturing.
