The Opportunity
Yolk Recruitment Public Sector & Not-for-Profit team has partnered with a unique Civil Service Organisation who are currently undergoing a very interesting and complex digital transformation.
We are supporting them to recruit a Head of Digital Design who has had experience managing User Centered Design professionals e.g. Service Designers, Interaction Designers, UX Designers. You will be leading a Team of 8 and their reports, taking charge of the Design Strategy for a core business service.
What the Head of Digital Design will be doing
- You will be managing a team who will be working on a variety of projects related to a business critical system within the business with a focus on accessibility and Gov Digital Design Standards.
- Direct line management of a team of User Centered Design Professionals, and matrix management of delivery teams.
- Ensure a clear direction and strategy for the UCD design community, ensuring it aligns with the DDaT strategy, and champions awareness of UCD across the organisation.
- Manage the design service, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and effective management of stakeholders.
- Ensure design work meets accessibility and Gov Digital design standards.
What the successful Head of Digital Design will bring to the team
- You will have proven experience as a leader in User Centered Design, championing its adoption across organisations, coaching and mentoring junior colleagues with a wealth of hands on experience.
- You will have experience mentoring junior designers across a wide range of design disciplines - with experience having led teams of designers.
- You will have hands on experience delivering User Centred Design projects demonstrating an extensive experience of UCD methodologies.
- Experience working to and implementing accessible design standards.
