Are you a Maintenance Engineer looking for more than just another job keeping production lines running? How about joining a successful, growing manufacturer that's investing in its people, equipment and engineering department, with a supportive management team who genuinely want to build something good?
We're working with a well-established drinks manufacturer in Shepton Mallet that's continuing to invest in its production facility, engineering capabilities and people. With a large, modern manufacturing site, multiple high-speed production lines and ambitious plans for the future, this is an opportunity to join a business where engineering plays a key role in its continued success.
What really stands out is the engineering culture. You'll be joining a friendly, experienced engineering team with an approachable and supportive management structure. There's a genuine focus on developing the department, improving reliability and giving engineers the support they need to do their jobs properly.
This isn't simply about filling another position. The business is strengthening its engineering team, investing in equipment and building a department that can support its long-term growth. Whether you're an experienced Maintenance Engineer looking for a fresh challenge or a recently qualified engineer keen to develop your skills, there's plenty of opportunity to get involved, learn and make a difference.
This is what you'll be doing:
- Working as part of the site's maintenance team, you'll be responsible for electrical and mechanical fault finding, planned maintenance and improvements across a wide range of modern production and packaging equipment.
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults across high-speed production and packaging machinery.
- Working with PLC-controlled equipment, inverters, motors, sensors, servo drives and associated control systems.
- Mechanical maintenance involving conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, shafts, pneumatic systems and other production equipment.
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability.
- Supporting engineering projects, equipment upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Working closely with production teams to minimise downtime and improve plant performance.
- Contributing ideas and improvements as the engineering department continues to develop.
The experience you'll bring to the team:
We're looking for a practical, hands-on Maintenance Engineer ideally with an electrical bias who enjoys fault finding, getting involved and working as part of a team. Ideally, you'll have:
- A recognised engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent time-served experience.
- A multi-skilled maintenance background with strong electrical fault-finding capabilities.
- Experience working with motors, drives, sensors, control panels and three-phase electrical systems.
- Good mechanical knowledge of equipment such as conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps and pneumatic systems desirable.
- Experience fault finding on PLC-controlled machinery, although programming experience isn't essential.
- Previous experience within manufacturing, ideally FMCG, food, drinks, packaging or another fast-paced production environment.
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn and an interest in improving how things are done.
You don't need to know everything. The business is equally interested in engineers with a solid technical foundation who are keen to develop their skills within a supportive team.
And this is what you'll get in return:
- £53,500 - £55,000 annual salary
- Annual Site Bonus
- Company Sick Pay Scheme
- Life Assurance
- Company Pension Scheme
- 4 on 4 off shift pattern, providing extended periods away from work
- Employee Discounts on company products
- Cycle to Work Scheme
- Free On-Site Parking
- Ongoing Investment in equipment, technology and engineering improvements
- Supportive Engineering Management with an approachable, hands-on leadership team
- Training & Development Opportunities to further strengthen your electrical and mechanical skills
Perhaps most importantly, you'll be joining a business with a clear ambition to keep improving, where engineers are encouraged to contribute ideas, get involved in projects and play a genuine part in developing the department.
