Job Description

Mechatronics Engineer South Wales£45,000 to £55,000Yolk Recruitment is exclusively partnered with a leading manufacturing business developing cutting edge electromechanical products with high impact applications, to recruit a Mechatronics Engineer for its growing R&D team.

This is an opportunity to take an active role in the development of a new electromechanical product, working across mechanical design, electronic hardware, control systems, testing and preparation for manufacture.

You'll be developing new products, involved in both in house mechanical design from concept to manufacture, and contributing to electrical/electronic development acting as the informed liaison with an external electronics design house.

A background in mechatronics or electrical and electronic engineering is therefore required in addition to mechanical.

This is what you'll be doing Supporting the development of electromechanical products through testing, validation and commercial launch.

Developing and integrating mechanical, electrical, electronic and control elements within the overall product architecture Reviewing electronic hardware designs, schematics, component selections and technical proposals Defining product requirements and translating user and commercial needs into clear engineering specifications.

Designing mechanical components, assemblies and enclosures using 3D CAD where required.

Producing concepts, prototypes, detailed designs, drawings and supporting technical documentation.

Planning and completing functional, performance, reliability, verification and validation testing.

Investigating faults and test failures across mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.

Supporting design risk assessments, FMEA and wider product risk management activities.

Considering power consumption, battery performance, heat, packaging, usability, materials and manufacturability during development.

Working closely with manufacturing teams and suppliers to prepare the product for production Maintaining accurate design records and contributing to technical files and product documentation Presenting technical findings, risks and recommendations to engineering, quality and senior stakeholders.

The experience you'll need A degree or equivalent qualification in mechatronics, electronics, electrical engineering, product design or related subject A practical understanding of how mechanical, electrical, electronic and control systems interact within a complete product.

Experience working with electronic hardware and the ability to interpret schematics and technical documentation.

Some understanding of microcontrollers, embedded systems or basic programming.

Experience taking products through concept development, prototyping, testing and design improvement.

An understanding of verification, validation, risk management and structured product development.

Mechanical design and 3D CAD experience.

A practical, hands-on approach to engineering problem-solving.
