MERITUS are recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our client in an initial 11 month contract from their site in Filton to work on Hydrogen Test Rig projects.
A leading aerospace engineering organisation is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support the development of advanced test and integration capability within a next-generation aerospace technology environment. The role sits within a specialist engineering test organisation responsible for the development of electrical architectures, instrumentation systems and control solutions supporting complex engineering test facilities and experimental development programmes.
The successful candidate will contribute to the design and integration of electrical systems for data acquisition, instrumentation and automated control environments associated with advanced propulsion and systems testing activities. This position requires a technically capable electrical engineer with experience in test systems, instrumentation integration and electrical architecture development within highly regulated engineering environments.
Key Responsibilities- Develop electrical architectures and design solutions for data acquisition and control systems.
- Produce electrical schematics and technical design documentation.
- Specify and integrate instrumentation solutions for a wide range of measurement applications including pressure, flow, voltage and current monitoring.
- Support the development of test facility electrical systems and associated test rig infrastructure.
- Generate technical requirements and specifications for electrical and control system integration activities.
- Support integration of instrumentation, data acquisition and automated control systems.
- Contribute to electrical system verification, testing and problem resolution activities.
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary engineering teams across mechanical, systems, software and test engineering functions.
- Support development activities within advanced aerospace and energy-related technology programmes.
- Experience in electrical design within engineering, aerospace, industrial or test environments.
- Knowledge of electrical system architecture development.
- Experience producing electrical schematics and design documentation.
- Familiarity with electrical CAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, KiCad or equivalent platforms.
- Understanding of instrumentation, data acquisition and control systems.
- Understanding of electrical integration and test principles.
- Ability to work within multidisciplinary engineering environments.
- Experience within aerospace, defence, automotive, motorsport, energy or advanced technology sectors.
- Knowledge of avionics or industrial communication protocols such as ARINC 429, CANbus or AFDX.
- Experience supporting complex test rigs, laboratories or integration facilities.
- Exposure to hydrogen, alternative propulsion or next-generation energy technologies.
