This is a hands-on engineering contract focused on corrosion protection, surface treatments and coatings across multiple aircraft programmes. You will be working directly on real aircraft challenges, not theoretical studies, supporting design, build and in-service activity with practical surface engineering solutions.
You will be part of the Materials, Processes and Test function, contributing to the development, qualification and deployment of surface technologies used on metallic and composite airframe structures. This role suits an engineer who understands how corrosion protection actually works in production and service environments and can apply that knowledge pragmatically.
What you will be doing:
- Developing and deploying surface technology solutions for aircraft design, manufacture and operation
- Providing corrosion protection and sealing concepts to support airframe structures
- Supporting multiple aircraft programmes with corrosion analysis and protection strategies
- Contributing to performance improvement, cost reduction and process optimisation activities
- Supporting the transition to chromate free corrosion protection systems
- Ensuring compliance with EHS and REACh regulations through eco-efficient materials and processes
- Working closely with international engineering teams across sites
What we are looking for:
- Degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or similar
- Proven experience in corrosion protection and surface technologies within aerospace
- Strong knowledge of aerospace materials including metallics and composites
- Experience with surface treatments, coatings, paints and sealants
- Practical understanding of aerospace manufacturing and in-service environments
- Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a multi-site international team
- Confident communicator with professional level English
Contract details:
- Rate: Β£40 per hour
- Duration: 12 months
- Location: Filton, Bristol
- Onsite requirement: approximately 60%
If you are a surface engineering or corrosion specialist looking for a long-term contract with real engineering impact, this role offers strong continuity and exposure across multiple aircraft programmes.
