Health & Safety / Compliance Manager Contract: Temporary to permanent Hours: 30 hours per week (Flexible & hybrid working) The Health & Safety / Compliance Manager will be the Designated Competent Person for Health and Safety, providing strategic leadership, expert advice and assurance across all schools. The postholder will ensure statutory health and safety responsibilities, manages risk effectively and maintains consistent compliance arrangements. They will promote a positive, proactive safety culture and provide senior leaders and Trustees with assurance on health and safety performance. Develop and implement the Trust-wide Health and Safety Strategy, policies and procedures. Maintain oversight of Trust-wide health and safety risks and provide appropriate challenge, advice and assurance. Ensure effective systems are in place for risk management, statutory compliance and health and safety monitoring. Lead a programme of health and safety audits, inspections and compliance reviews, ensuring actions are followed through. Review risk assessments and control measures, providing specialist advice on high-risk activities. Work with Estates and school teams to provide assurance on statutory premises compliance, including fire, asbestos, water hygiene, electrical and gas safety. Provide strategic oversight of educational visits and off-site activities, working with Educational Visit Coordinators to ensure appropriate risk management and compliance. Develop and deliver health and safety training and guidance to ensure staff understand their responsibilities. Prepare clear reports for senior leaders, Trustees and committees on compliance, risks, incidents and improvement actions.NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 Health and Safety qualification. Significant senior Health and Safety experience within a complex, multi-site organisation. Experience of developing health and safety strategies, policies and assurance frameworks. Strong knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation and recognised best practice. A driver with access to a car
