MERITUS are recruiting for 2x Avionics Test Technicians to join a space business based in Farnborough on initial 6 month contracts to support an exciting, groundbreaking satellite programme.

A leading advanced space technology organisation is seeking an Avionics Test Technician to support verification and validation activities across next-generation airborne systems and platform technologies. The role sits within a highly innovative engineering and flight test environment focused on the development, integration and operational validation of advanced aerospace platforms operating in demanding environments.

The successful candidate will support hands-on avionics and systems testing activities, contributing to safe, repeatable and high-quality test execution across laboratory, integration and environmental test environments. This position requires a practical and detail-oriented test professional with experience supporting avionics, electrical or systems integration activities within aerospace or other highly regulated engineering sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support verification and validation activities for avionics and electrical systems.
  • Execute structured test procedures in line with defined test requirements and safety processes.
  • Support fault finding and troubleshooting activities across avionics and electrical systems.
  • Work with wiring harnesses, instrumentation, sensors and test equipment within controlled engineering environments.
  • Execute testing activities in collaboration with engineering, manufacturing and programme teams.
  • Identify issues, inconsistencies or risks within test procedures and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Capture, document and communicate test results clearly and accurately.
  • Support test readiness activities and contribute to risk identification prior to execution.
  • Maintain compliance with ESD-safe working practices and engineering quality standards.
  • Support environmental and functional testing activities where required.
  • Contribute to maintaining repeatable and controlled test environments with strong attention to detail and quality.
Essential Experience
  • Experience within a test technician, integration technician or engineering test environment.
  • Exposure to avionics, aerospace, electronics or complex electrical systems.
  • Understanding of structured testing and verification activities.
  • Experience working from test procedures and engineering documentation.
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment, wiring harnesses and instrumentation systems.
  • Strong awareness of safe working practices and controlled engineering environments.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and operational teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Desirable Experience
  • Aerospace or defence sector experience.
  • Experience with environmental testing such as thermal, vibration or vacuum testing.
  • Familiarity with aerospace environmental standards such as DO-160 or MIL-STD-810.
  • Electrical troubleshooting capability.
  • Exposure to automated testing or scripting activities.
  • Experience supporting prototype or experimental aerospace systems.
