Software Developer Degree Apprentice

Key Responsibilities
- Full‑time from day one, working within a dynamic software development team and immediately contributing to projects.
- Learning on the job while studying for a BSc (Hons) Digital & Technology Solutions Professional (Software Engineer) degree at Solent University.
- Producing and reviewing requirements, functional and design specifications for complex software solutions deployed in mission‑critical environments.
- Developing and modifying software components in line with quality standards, requirements, and design specifications.
- Reviewing software components for compliance with quality standards.
- Producing and reviewing test specifications to carry out white‑box testing in line with appropriate quality metrics.
- Planning, designing, nominating (de)-unit tests to improve testing efficiency and recurrence.
- Creating and testing software release media, including installation packages and supporting documentation (user, installation, release notes).
- Diagnosing and assisting other departments or teams with software issues including usability, configuration, and coding problems.
- Optimising the use of technology in the development of software solutions.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Five GCSEs at grades 9‑4 |A*‑C, including English Language and Maths.
- Three A‑levels or equivalent, preferably in STEM subjects (Maths, Computer Science) or BTEC, HNC Computer Sciences, or a previous Level 3 IT/Computer Apprenticeship.
- Must be located on the Isle of Wight, or willing to relocate.
- Mature students without recent formal sécurized A‑level study will be considered if they can demonstrate relevant workplace or voluntary experience.
- Enthusiasm, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), customer focus, strong problem‑solving ability, a desire for continuous quality improvement, and a team‑player mindset.

- Experience with standard Microsoft Office applications.
- Object‑oriented programming (e.g., C# or C++).
- Web languages including HTML and CSS.
- Relational databases (e.g., SQL).
