Most software engineers spend their careers building features.

This role is for someone who'd rather build confidence.

A specialist engineering organisation at the forefront of safety-critical software engineering is looking for a Software Engineer with commercial Rust experience to join a team developing high-integrity software for some of the world's most demanding applications.

Their work spans a broad range of industries, from satellites and sub-modular reactors to aerospace, automotive, medical devices and life sciences.

Regardless of the application, the challenge remains the same: build software that performs exactly as intended, every time.

You'll be involved throughout the software development lifecycle, contributing to requirements, development, integration, verification and validation activities alongside software, systems and test engineers.

The environment is structured, technical and engineering-led. Quality, traceability and compliance are fundamental to success.

  • What they're looking for
  • Commercial experience developing software using Rust.
  • Around five years' software engineering experience.
  • Experience across requirements, development and/or test.
  • Exposure to safety-critical or highly regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of standards such as IEC 61508, EN 50128, ISO 26262, DEF STAN 00-55 or DO-178.
  • A methodical approach to problem-solving and software quality.
  • UK working rights and the ability to obtain BPSS security clearance.

Why apply?

For the right engineer, this is an opportunity to work on software where correctness, reliability and safety genuinely matter.

You'll join experienced engineering teams solving technically challenging problems in an environment that values engineering rigour over shortcuts.

Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
