The Role

We are looking for an experienced Back End Developer to join a growing technology team in Southampton. The successful candidate will work primarily on back-end development using Laravel in a commercial environment, contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of business-critical systems.

While the role is predominantly back end focused, there will be a small amount of front-end work (approximately 10–20%) using React.js, supporting existing applications and features. Most company systems are built using Laravel with React.js on the front end, so strong experience with this stack is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain back-end services using Laravel
  • Work with PostgreSQL databases, writing efficient queries and maintaining data integrity
  • Collaborate within an Agile / SCRUM environment, participating in ceremonies and planning
  • Support and maintain existing applications while contributing to new feature development
  • Assist with small amounts of front-end development using React.js
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
  • Work closely with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions

  • Minimum 3 years’ professional development experience
  • Strong commercial experience with Laravel (essential)
  • Working knowledge of React.js (for limited front-end work)
  • Experience using PostgreSQL
