Job Purpose: To promote the missions and values of YMCA Essex to ensure that we help build lives, hopes and futures of young people and families. To support and assist in the delivery of good quality youth work to the YMCA youth groups through the agreed program of activities that develops their personal, social, creative and educational development. To establish appropriate relationships with young people within the boundaries of this role, to help support them to reach their full potential and increase their confidence and self-esteem. To be flexible and adaptable in the approach to workload. Be flexible and responsible at all times, providing a positive role model for children, young people, parents/carers, staff and volunteers.

Person Specification: Experience planning and delivering activities to children and young people. Understanding of risk assessments and delivering activities safely. Experience of working with a diverse range of people. Experience of working in and handling stressful situations. Ability to think and act in an artistic and creative way. Ability to demonstrate and understand the importance of effective team working. Ability to work with minimal or no supervision and use initiative. Ability to multi-task and prioritise using effective organisation and planning skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish good relationships with young people. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with discretion, integrity and confidentiality.
