YMCA Wearside are a multi site charity specialising in Supported Housing for 16-35yr olds, seeking a strong finance trustee. Remote candidates are welcome as we are a fully digitial finance department with progression to Treasurer possible.
What difference will you make?
Our Board members are a professional, friendly and diverse and very experienced group who specialise in many areas relevant to the requirements of our Supported Accommodation Services who rely on our vastly experienced CEO to keep them abreast of all matters. The right candidate will help support and build our charity with strategic decision making in line with our aims and purposes. The ideal candidate would be available via email, phone or TEAMS for any day-to-day support and could join bi-monthly board meetings virtually if travelling/time is an issue. The Finance department is a home based friendly and approachable team that runs smoothly and with such experienced staff there\’s not a huge demand on trustee time as a rule and much of the \’leg work\’ is done independently to ensure time constraints on our invaluable Board Members is kept to a minimum.
What are we looking for?
As our finance department is fully digital with a 30yr+ experienced Finance Manager, we\’re hoping to attract an experienced qualified accountant who\’s comfortable with technology and who can give any support where necessary for more high level finance matters and decision making within YMCA Wearside. A minimum of 3 yrs experience with qualifications is very much desired and an ease with technology and digital formats too, therefore any candidates who prefer remote working would be welcomed as our finance team are home based. Further experience of local authority tender processes from a financial perspective would be beneficial however all necessary training and support of our actvities will be provided.
What will you be doing?
The ideal candidate will bring a strong Finance influence with skills and qualifications to support both the Board and our Finance Team. All Board members are needed to oversee the strategy, policy and direction of the charity and contribute their specific skills to guide organisational decision making.As both charity trustees and company directors, members of the Board are responsible for making sure the organisation\’s affairs are conducted legally and properly.. Board meetings are normally bi-monthly.
