About The Role
Chaplaincy is a vital part of the People & Culture team. As a chaplain, you will provide a Christian Chaplaincy Service to residents, service users, staff and volunteers and support the spiritual life of the charity. You will offer pastoral care, prayer, worship and spiritual guidance to a diverse community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide spiritual care and pastoral support, including confidential life-transforming care, prayer, worship and exploration of Christian faith.
- Develop and deliver engagement activities such as small group programmes, peer support, discussion based or retreat activities and festival-related events.
- Develop and maintain relationships with churches, faith-based agencies and community groups to extend YMCA’s outreach.
- Build and manage a network of Christian Chaplaincy volunteers who can provide regular or ad hoc pastoral support.
- Champion the Christian ethos, ensuring core values underpin all work and that staff, residents and customers feel belonging and authenticity.
Qualifications & Experience
- Practising Christian with an excellent understanding of Christian faith and significant experience in providing spiritual and pastoral support.
- Experience working with young people and/or vulnerable adults.
- Creative skills and a passion for exploring faith in engaging ways.
- Relevant qualification in theology or related topic (desirable).

Working Hours & Pattern
Part‑time role: 21 hours per week, generally during office hours Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work. Working pattern to be agreed.
