YMCA St. Paul’s Group Youth Project is a subsidiary of YMCA St Paul’s Group, a charity supporting and empowering young people and communities across London through life‑changing youth work, vital community services, all‑inclusive health and wellbeing centres, and providing supported accommodation for those at risk of homelessness. The vision of YMCA St Paul’s Group is to create places where young people thrive and communities flourish. We offer young people safe spaces to explore who they are, make good decisions, increase their self‑esteem, develop interpersonal skills and build emotional resilience — giving them the confidence and skills they need to live, learn, work, and achieve. We help whole families to flourish. We deliver safe and trusted youth work sessions and activities, provide family support and mediation help when difficult issues arise at home or school, summer and school holiday camps, and activities that are fun for everyone.
Airplay and BEN Club sessions are youth support programmes funded by the RAF Benevolent Fund and delivered at 24 RAF bases across the country for children and young people aged 5‑18. YMCA currently holds the contract to deliver these sessions via their network of skilled youth workers.
This role will support the running of youth activities as part of the Airplay project for children and young people from military families. This will include engaging with the young people and supporting the preparation and running of youth sessions. You will be working closely with the Youth Programmes Officer, as well as with our partners at RAF Northolt. The successful applicant will ensure a high‑quality level of delivery whilst meeting the unique difficulties that children and young people from military families face. The role is based at RAF Northolt, though may occasionally be required to work at other YMCA SPG sites.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and engaging individual to join the youth team at RAF Northolt who is looking to have a positive impact on young people in the community. You will have an understanding of the challenges and issues facing young people and be able to treat their concerns with patience and sensitivity. Formal youth work qualifications are not required for this role, and role‑related training will be available.
